An amazing and wonderful restaurant hidden in Hanoi.
In the streets of Hanoi there are always a thousand things to discover. You have to walk around, look for, not look for and find around a building, at the end of a street, in one of the many shops. If you are looking for a quality banh my or a local bun thiet, I recommend this little neighborhood restaurant. Both are excellent. It is a peaceful and relaxing place where I like to hang out. It is almost unknown and has around 6 to 8 outdoor spaces.
Bánh Mỳ Ngọc Thuốc is actually a pharmacy, which also serves as a restaurant. Yes it is a little improbable, but it is like that in Vietnam. Banh My are famous in all the district and the customers parade in front of the door always open. The Bun Thiet is incredible and costs around 35 VND. The woman who runs this little restaurant speaks a little English and her 90-year-old mother, if you have the chance to meet her, know a few words of French. You will be immediately welcomed as friends, looking over her glasses the boss will try to understand what you want and oh miracle will give you a menu in English. Everything is good, have no fears. If you want to drink something, other than tea, the owner will cross the dead end to get it from the grocery store.
A nice big dog with blue eyes watches as a master and watches you lunch, yawning with happiness.
In order to help you to the end and by luck, there is not really an address, or rather several addresses, I post a google map at the end of this article to help you locate it. It is the pho ton That Thiep, between building C1 and C2 on the right when entering between the two buildings. The Ton That Thiep pho is from 34a Tran phu. On google map it is often easier to search from 34a tran phu.
If you pass in the morning or at the end of the morning, there is a market on the pavements of the pho ton that thiep. The colors, the smells, the smiles, everything will be there to remind you that you are thousands of kilometers from your home
